How to Lose Weight with Digital Bathroom Scales

If you are starting a diet program, it is time to throw out the old mechanical scales and go digital. When you are trying to lose weight, your scale is going to be either your best friend or your worst enemy. In order to use a scale in your diet, its readings need to be a motivating factor. That is why the accuracy of digital bathroom scales is so important.

Mechanical scales are rarely reliable when it comes to accuracy, especially if the scale is old. That is because they work on a spring system. Over the years, the springs gain elasticity (like our waste lines!) and don’t gauge pressure accurately- thus, incorrect readings. They certainly won’t be able to tell you weight differences in small amounts like .2 of a pound. Digital bathroom scales work on a sensor system that is much more accurate to very small amounts. If you buy a good model, you can really count on reliability.

At the start of your diet, weight yourself on the digital scale. Do this in the morning after emptying your bladder and without any heavy clothing on. Many programs recommend not checking your weight for up to a month. However, I don’t know many people with enough discipline not to peak at their weight along the line. When you see a difference of as little as .2 pounds show up, it can really increase your motivation because you know that you are getting results. This makes restraining yourself from donuts and extra portions much easier.

Each person needs to find his/her own way of befriending the digital bathroom scale and incorporating it into the diet routine. The idea is to build up on each success and to use the measurements to set realistic short and long term goals with weight loss.
